Gillam Branch closing November 2024

After careful consideration, Assiniboine Credit Union (ACU) will be closing its Gillam branch. The last day the branch will be open is Wednesday, November 20, 2024.

This decision was not made lightly and comes after many challenging years working to secure employees to keep the branch open, says Andrea Dysievick, ACU’s Chief Advice & Service Delivery Officer.

“We deeply regret having to close this branch. We have exhausted all avenues to attract and retain full-time branch employees - including a qualified branch manager. Over the past several years, we have adjusted the branch hours of operation multiple times due to staffing shortages. This poses many challenges, including serving our members properly.”

The decision to close the branch is only an operational decision, not a financial decision.

“Our branch managers from Thompson have been commuting the three-hour drive to provide in-person service as a temporary solution. This practice is not sustainable for both the Gillam and Thompson branches,” says Dysievick.

“It is of utmost importance we support our members through this transition, and we will continue to provide digital banking tools and training, as we navigate these changes together.”

Members who have used the Gillam branch in the past twelve months will receive letters about the changes. Additionally, members with a safety deposit box at the branch will be sent instructions about what to do with their boxes.

It has been a privilege to serve the Gillam community. We sincerely thank members for choosing ACU and for their continued support and loyalty.

Updates will be available on our website.
