Assiniboine Credit Union announces executive retirements

Assiniboine Credit Union CEO Kevin Sitka today announced the retirement of two longtime leaders of ACU. Brent Turman, Chief Commercial & Agribusiness Officer, will retire in April and Allan Godfrey, Chief Risk Officer, will retire in May.

“Brent and Allan have both enjoyed long and distinguished careers with ACU and the Manitoba credit union system,” Sitka said. “They are highly deserving of the possibilities that will open up in the next chapters of their lives.”

Turman has been in the Manitoba credit union system for 35 years. He joined ACU three years ago, as a result of its merger with Entegra Credit Union, although he spent the first eight years of his credit union career with Assiniboine. His key roles have included Entegra Credit Union Chief Financial Officer (CFO) (1998-2016), Steinbach Credit Union CFO (2016-2019), Entegra Credit Union Chief Executive Officer (2019-2021), ACU’s Chief Advice & Service Delivery Officer — Business, Community & Winnipeg Insurance Brokers (2022-December 31, 2024) and Chief Commercial & Agribusiness Officer (January 1, 2025-Current).

Godfrey has been in the Manitoba credit union system for 28 years, starting with Astra Credit Union in March 1996, initially in the role of Controller, then progressing to the Chief Financial Officer role. When Assiniboine, Vantis and Astra credit unions merged in 2007, he was appointed Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer of ACU and became a member of the Executive Leadership Team. In 2018, he assumed the role of Chief Risk Officer.

A search will soon commence to fill these vacant executive roles at Assiniboine Credit Union, which on January 1 merged with Westoba Credit Union and Caisse Financial Group.

“Allan and Brent both left their marks on ACU and the Manitoba credit union system,” Sitka said. “They are excellent and skillful executive leaders and leave behind strong teams to successfully guide our credit union though integration and beyond.”
