Socially Responsible Investing

Now more than ever, our members who have money to invest, insist that it be invested in socially responsible mutual funds and term deposits from companies and organizations whose social and environmental beliefs and practices reflect their own.

There's no reason you can't invest your money and do good for others, as you do well for yourself (and have a clear conscience). Socially responsible investing (also known ethical investing) helps you make a positive difference and bring about a positive change in the world.

When selecting mutual funds to offer our members, Aviso Wealth (our investment dealer and mutual funds dealer) partners with several proven fund companies who employ a number of proven SRI investment strategies. These strategies include: ESG analysis (the process of considering environmental, social and governance factors when selecting investments); shareholder engagement and action; sustainable value creation; negative screening; and community investing. Our Aviso Wealth advisors recommend socially responsible mutual funds based on each of our member's risk tolerance and their investment goals. The advisors also consider the socially responsible  fund's and the fund company's strong financial, social and environmental performance. This is far more than a "feel good" initiative; it also pays off for investors.

Our Aviso Wealth advisors are able to offer members a heavily-vetted portfolio of socially responsible investment vehicles and products that are in harmony both financially and ethically, together with a deep understanding of the markets. At the end of the day, you'll be able to sleep well knowing that you're doing good with your money and just as importantly, doing no harm.

Other socially responsible investment products include:

The Jubilee Fund

The Jubilee Fund is an ethical investment fund established to provide loan guarantees to not-for-profit organizations, co-operatives and social enterprises to initiate or complete community based projects that reduce poverty. Its projects typically contribute to community needs and priorities such as daycares, affordable housing and/or small business or worker co-op business opportunities.

Term Deposits

When you invest your money in a Term Deposit, your money is reinvested right here at home, helping other ACU members in a number of ways. You'll be helping some get ahead in life and buy a family home, start a business that creates local jobs and opportunities, or get a post-secondary education and launch new careers. Funds are also used to create affordable housing for Manitobans on low incomes and for many other initiatives that improve the quality of life for our members and the communities we all love and live in.
