Governance
The Board of Directors is responsible for governance of the credit union. It is the legal body vested with the responsibility for establishing policy and the direction of the credit union in accordance with ACU’s by-laws and the provincial Credit Unions and Caisses Populaires Act (the Act). The Board and its Committees meet regularly to set governing policies, develop and monitor strategic plans, monitor and mitigate risks, and to ensure an appropriate control structure.

In 2024, following consultation with regulators, employees, members, and communities, and the development of a comprehensive business case, the Board of Directors of ACU, Caisse Financial Group and Westoba Credit Union recommended that the 3 organizations merge. In June 2024, they announced that member-owners of Assiniboine Credit Union, Caisse Financial Group, and Westoba Credit Union voted “Yes and Oui” to the proposed merger.
