ACU recognized by Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce

At a gala last Friday evening, the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce presented its annual Spirit of Winnipeg awards. Assiniboine Credit Union (ACU) received the award in the Environment and Energy category.

The category recognizes leadership in conservation, waste reduction and efficiency efforts that advance ecological stewardship in Winnipeg. Nominations are anonymous, and typically put forward by organizations’ peers in the city’s business community.

“We are all working toward positive climate action and we'd like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude for this Spirit of Winnipeg Award,” said Mike Taylor, ACU’s senior executive responsible for sustainability. “The recognition strengthens our commitment to real, long-term action on the environment and climate change in all aspects of our business.”

ACU was a finalist in the category along with Compost Winnipeg and The Forks. Being named in that company was humbling.

“Businesses that act in the interests of the environment also have the best interests of their community at heart, and we’re pleased to be counted among them,” Taylor said in congratulating all nominees. Learn about ACU’s commitment to initiatives that promote positive climate action.
